Hello,
Sorry if this is in the wrong place of the forum but I couldn’t find a proper place to post it.
So, I recently joined the discord server of the r/Stutter subreddit. The discord server is basically the same as these forums with the exception of two capabilities 1. voice clips 2. voice chat.1. voice clips: there is forum or section where people can post any voice message they want. This is a great place for anyone who just wants to practice talking in a different level of anxiety and social pressure. It also allows people to play to play back their messages and see where they can improve. It really just serves as another avenue to practice speech and hear fluency.
2. voice chat rooms: the way this works is that people who want to speak right then and now can post notifications (@voicechat) in another room and then they can join the voice chat room and wait for others to join then. And when people get that notification, they can join them and just start talking and practicing fluency. This can happen at any time of the day or night, so anyone can find someone to speak to at any time they wish (granted there are people present and willing to talk to them at the instant) and they don’t have to wait for specific times or appointments.
I just wanted to make this suggestion because these two features are really helping me improve my speech and I would love for WSSA to have a discord server (if approved by the team of course) because the reddit community is kind of toxic about people who want to treat themselves and they are all about acceptance and doing nothing (which I am totally against).

thanks for the information.
We have something that we believe is much more helpful: our Group Practice Sessions and our weekly SAM Meetings. As a member of WSSA, you can join as many of these meetings as you want.
The Group Practice Sessions are precisely that: in small groups (usually not more than 8 people) of PWS and PWSS you talk to each other, practice Speech Plans and Crutches, you learn from how others use the, you help each other…. Many of my students say that these meetings have been one of the things that have helped them the most.
The link and schedule of these meetings is in “Resources” -> “Daily Practice Sessions”.The SAM Meetings are larger meetings (on average there are around 25-30 attendees including coaches, PWS and PWSS). Some of our SAM Meetings are open discussions, where anyone can ask questions, and we discuss about them (we usually have these open discussions on the first Saturday of every month).
In other SAM Meetings we have a main speaker, who is a PWSS and talks about how they stopped stuttering and their speech journey. After that, everybody is invited to make comments and questions. Finally, in other SAM Meetings, one of the coaches talks about a specific topic related with stuttering and speech.
So, as you can see, in the SAM Meetings you can meet Lee Lovett and the rest of the coaches, you can meet othe PWSS and PWS, ask questions, or simply attend as a mere listener. In any case, here you’ll learn the latest updates on our Neuroscience Method to Stop Stuttering.
To join these meetings you need to click on “Resources” -> “Speech Club Hangout & Therapy”. You can watch the recordings of our past SAM Meetings in the “Videolibrary”, and then, in the filters on the left, chose “Speech Club”.Finally, we also have a whatsapp group that members can join. The link to join is in “Resources” -> “Daily Practice Sessions”.
I hope you find this helpful!
