Hi,
Just wondering if any of the coaches have coached anyone else with spasmodic dysphonia?
I have a lot of the same characteristics as a stutterer (fear of words, planning words, struggling to start speaking, etc.) but rather than stuttering, either no sound comes out or my voice cuts in and out at the start of words or in the middle of words. I also struggle to use breath support while speaking unless I’m fully relaxed and am in the habit of speaking low in my throat and croaky, rather than in my ‘mask voice’.I haven’t come across many success stories with spasmodic dysphonia (although I know it’s so similar to stuttering and these methods will likely help). I just find it hard to believe I can overcome this because I haven’t seen many success stories with it, so was hoping one of the coaches have helped someone with similar speech characteristics to me, even if they haven’t been diagnosed with SD.
Thank you.
March 21, 2023 at 7:03 am #33347JavierModeratorHello Brianna. As far as I know, none of us coaches have had a student with spasmodic dysphonia. I’ve just did a bit of research on this now, and watched a couple of videos of people with this problem, to get a better idea. I am going to show this message to Lee Lovett anyway.
All I can say is that we will be glad to help you master our methods in order to defeat the fear of words, fear of speaking, word-planning and hopefully help you with your problem.March 21, 2023 at 7:09 am #33348BriannaParticipantHi Javier,
Thank you for your response. I’ve just signed up for 3 sessions of coaching so would love to get started as soon as possible with whoever you think would be the best fit for my case.
Thank you!
