One of my PWS told me that they feel as if they sound too dramatic when they use “extreme pronunciation”. Do any of you feel the same way? Also, if you do believe that, do you think that stuttering is better than sounding “dramatic”?
Hi Tasneem. Extreme pronunciation is a great Crutch, and it forces us to slow down, which is even better. Because when we slow down, speaking and using the Crutches is a lot easier.
Whenever we do something new, like using this Crutch, we might feel awkward. That’s perfectly normal. It might even be true that we articulate much more, but in any case I prefer it rather than forcing words, grimacing and all those horrible things that happen to us when we stutter. And we normally don’t need to use this Crutch all the time. We should be using all the Crutches.
I always sound dramatic and act over dramatic anyway stutter or not!!!!! I always wanted to be a clown or actor!!!! My behavior is totally over-dramatic!!!! It as nothing to do with stuttering…..just how I am. Does being over-dramatic decrease stuttering?? MAYBE……but dramatic is simply my behavior having nothing to do with how I sound!!! FLAMBOYANT–I love flamboyant!
